I just watched one of the best football games and was driving home from my friends house; the excitement still flowing through me. As great as the Giants 17-14 victory over the Patriots was, there just felt like there was something missing. I tried to figure it out, but I just couldn’t put my finger on what could be missing from such a perfect game. As I arrived home and poured myself a glass of champaign, I finally realized what was missing…
The Super Bowl needs “One Shining Moment.”
At the end of the final four, CBS shows a montage of the greatest moments throughout the tournament; going back to the beginning of the beginning of the playoffs. The song “One Shining Moment” written by David Barrett plays in the background. It’s a nice summary of the season put to music.
How cool would it be to have this in Football. To see Bret Favre’s snowball fight one more time, or the T.O.’s winy press conference. How about one more Charger’s highlight, or a last shot of coach Joe Gibbs walking off the field for the last time.
This is something the NFL needs to try. Maybe next time a real network (like the previously mentioned CBS) gets the Super Bowl, we’ll have our highlight show.
Why I hate Bill Belichick, reason 42
After the game, Fox had their obligatory interview with coach Bill Belichick of the Patriots. Through his billegerent childish responses, I noticed something – he made no comments about the Giants. Usually a coach will at least mention how well the other team played, or give the winning team some sort of props, but he said nothing. I’m still waiting to hear the official interview, hopefully this changes, or my opinion of him will drop even further.
Hats
I stopped at a local mall, hoping to pick up a Giants hat before the game. I tried six different stores, including a hat kiosk, but none had Giants hats. I’ll bet they will now…
