NaNoWriMo, update 2

It doesn’t take much to reignite a spark.

While in Milwaukee visiting friends last weekend, a buddy asked me how novel writing month was going.  I was a bit dejected as I was significantly behind where I hoped to be.

“Well, what is your story about,” he asked me.

I broke into my standard explanation of the plot – a child is hit by a car while playing with friends and is in a coma for years.  Doctors eventually find a way to try and bring the now-man out of his coma, and that’s where the fun starts.

And that’s when it happened.  I was reenergized about writing just by explaining the plot to a friend.

NaNoWriMo update 1

One week is an eternity.

One week can be filled with birthday celebrations, outings with old friends, and the election of a new president.  Add in Halloween parties and a job with a time-consuming commute, and you are left with very little free time.

By the end of today, I should be over 10,000 words for NaNoWriMo.  I’m currently sitting at about 1800, not counting what I hope to write tonight.  While my weekends and days have been filled with outings and festivities, that is not the main reason I am so far behind.
