What is the one song — or couple songs that hit you right in the heart?
Songs about that “special feeling” of love are prominent in our culture. Some are cheesy, some reflective, and others have memories associated with them. They are the songs that shape and influance us.
As John Cusack’s character in High Fidelity points asks, “Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable, or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?”
So what are your favorite love songs? Which ones move you — maybe bringing a tear to your eye or at least a warm feeling to your heart? I’m looking for some favorites other than my own for a project I am working on which will eventually be revealed on this page. Please list your favorites in the comments.
Bright Eyes – First Day of my life
Death cab for cutie – I will follow you into the dark
Ooh, cool. I’m curious about your project. Here are some of mine:
Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl – Broken Social Scene
Paper Tiger – Spoon
It’s Too Late – The Streets
Crying – Roy Orbison
Brand New Colony – The Postal Service
Jóga – Björk
Piano Concerto No. 5 in Eb (second movement) – Beethoven
I think that a lot of it has to do with the use of strings…I may be back to post a billion more comments on your blog.
Hands down the best one i know is
“Lovin’ in my baby’s eyes” by taj mahal
has been phil and i’s “song” for years, danced to it at our wedding.
“F**k You and Your Cat” by Goldfinger. Always a special place in my heart for that one (because of a certain someone from my past). Also really like Diana Krall’s – “Peal Me a Grape”, which is more seductive then sappy. I guess 8 years of being a wedding DJ ruined a lot of love songs for me.
